About

Author & City Grandma

Lucille Tannis is a retired educator, children’s author, and lifelong advocate for learning and family connection. Born and raised in Barbados, Lucille developed an early appreciation for education as a powerful tool for growth, confidence, and opportunity.

She spent many years teaching in the New York public school system, where she dedicated her career to supporting young learners and nurturing curiosity both inside and outside the classroom. After retiring from public education, Lucille continued her passion for teaching at home, helping raise and homeschool her grandchildren.

Meet Lucille Tannis

Now living in the Caribbean on the beautiful island of Bequia in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Lucille draws inspiration from her family, cultural heritage, and everyday moments of childhood.

Her Country Grandma, City Grandma series is inspired by real-life experiences and celebrates inter-generational love, multicultural identity, and the simple joys of growing up surrounded by caring adults.

Through her stories, Lucille hopes to encourage early literacy, spark meaningful conversations between children and caregivers, and remind readers that family—no matter where it lives—is one of life’s greatest teachers.
